Europrice becomes the leading children’s publisher, capturing 42% of the children’s book market in Portugal in 2024.

In 2024, Europrice consolidated its position as the leading children’s publisher in Portugal. According to GFK market data, around 13.96 million books were sold in the country, of which 34.5% belong to the Children/Youth category — making the national children’s book market approximately 4.8 million units. This year, Europrice sold more than 2 million books, which translates to an approximate market share of 42%.

This historic result confirms what thousands of families and teachers already knew: Europrice is the preferred choice when it comes to books that educate, engage, and develop children.

Learning Without Screens

At a time when children are increasingly exposed to screens from very early ages, Europrice’s books play an essential role: offering a healthy, active, and educational alternative. Instead of passive content and constant digital stimuli, our books promote concentration, autonomy, and real interaction — with the materials themselves, with parents, and with the world around. We believe that childhood development is better achieved with a pencil in hand than with a finger on a screen. Our books are designed to stimulate fundamental skills from early childhood:

  • Logical and mathematical reasoning
  • Language and vocabulary development
  • Fine motor skills and visual coordination
  • Creativity, autonomy, and problem-solving

We maintain an active catalog with hundreds of titles adapted to different age groups, areas of knowledge, and educational needs. From activity books and school worksheets to books for learning English, cutting, pasting, or drawing — all titles follow a strict criterion: to be useful for the child’s development.

Our books are used by families, educators, and schools across the country as a complementary resource to the curriculum and an essential tool for informal learning.

“Reaching a 42% market share in the children’s book market in Portugal is a clear sign that families trust what we do. At Europrice, we don’t just sell books — we offer real tools for children’s development, away from screens, with content that educates, entertains, and supports growth. Becoming the leading children’s publisher is a pride, but above all, a responsibility we take very seriously.”
